About Vine & Chalk
Vine & Chalk was created to publish clear, well-researched wine education, without unnecessary complexity. The focus is on winegrowing and winemaking approaches rooted in responsible farming and thoughtful production, including organic, biodynamic and other low-intervention practices.
The aim is understanding, not opinion for its own sake.
Who is behind Vine & Chalk
I am Radu, a wine educator based in Birmingham. I hold the WSET Level 4 Diploma and I am a WSET Certified Educator. I am also a Master of Wine student.
I teach WSET up to Level 3 at a WSET Approved Programme Provider, focusing on clear structure in tasting, theory and exam technique. In 2025, one of my Level 3 students won the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux Prize, a WSET prize for Level 3 students in the UK wine trade.
Alongside WSET, I am also a Certified Rioja Wine Educator, and you can find my name on the official Rioja Wine Academy educators list.

You will also find practical support for WSET students, including tasting guidance and theory explanations, written to reflect how exams are actually assessed. Quizzes will be added later.

This site is for curious drinkers, students and professionals who want to understand wine more clearly and critically.
